Product I love Today - Day 7

Products I love Challenge

This week I am setting myself a little challenge! For the next seven days I am hoping to write one post a new post each day showing one product that I have found recently, I have really enjoyed using and would highly recommend. True to my blogs name I hope to show a few “Great Little Finds”!

Product I love Today - Day 7

Nivea Lip Butter

Again a product that so many people have loved, recommended and repurchased again and again. Nivea Lip Butter's are a must have product in my handbag and on my night stand. I have the two varieties vanilla and macadamia and raspberry rose.

These lip butters are so luxurious on the lips. The are not sticky, they condition the lips and smell amazing. They give a really nice sheen to the lips and leave them feeling so soft. This lip better is such good value for money - a good quality lip balm that can be used as a conditioning base for lipstick or in its own. Every makeup bag should contain one Kiss mark

Product I love Today - Day 6

MAC Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator

I generally do not use skin care products from MAC except the eye makeup remover as when you use as much Mac eyes shadow as I do it only makes sense to use it! I was excited when I saw this product advertised; just the words volcanic and exfoliator in the same sentence conjured up so many thoughts. I always exfoliate my skin as I agree with all the benefits we are told of exfoliation – bright skin, less breakouts and over all brighter skin.
This product is really good! First thing that hit me was the colour – it is a dark sliver/black colour with is strangely appealing. I just could not wait to slap it on my face! The consistency is rough, it consists of tiny particles of fine sugar that act to unclog the pores and remove dead skin cells.

It is rough but not harsh and this is one of the reasons I really like this product so much. It has a dual purpose in that it can act as a cleanser also as it foams when rubbed into the skin and water is applied. This product is from the mineralize range therefore it is packed with minerals and this must be the reason my skin is so soft after use. I also found this exfoliator excellent to use on elbow or knees when I am trying to exfoliate before applying tan.
Over all I really like this product. I find it effective yet gentle on the skin. It really does remove dead skin cells and leaves the skin bright.

What exfoliator do you use? Please leave a comment as I love to try new products. Thanks for reading my post and I hope you find it helpful

Product I love Today - Day 5

 Nude Skin Highlighter by Dior

*Apologies for the quality of these photos’s my camera was not at hand so had to resort to using my phone.

I read a few reviews of this product and watched the ever talented Tanya Burr use it a few times as she completed beautiful make up looks that my decision to purchase was a definite! It was a little difficult to find, as it turned out more people than me were in the pursuit of a extra shimmer to their skin. Finally found, tried and tested and the conclusion drawn - I Heavy black heartit! Yet again the Doir makeup range impresses and offers us users a high quality product the is simply beautiful on the skin.

This magical powder is a subtle combination of fine mother-of-pearl in a transparent base. you can lightly apply it to the cheekbones, forehead, bridge of the nose and the chin and watch the glow on your skin cone alive! The powder aims to attract a maximum amount of light and recreate the dewy glow. It is leaning towards the natural look ( let's face it not many of us awake naturally with dewy perfect skin) but does not leave u fake, plastic or too polished looking.

The texture is very soft and powdery. I prefer to use a brush for application rather than the applicator provided as I find my brush gives a more even finish. It blends really well on the skin. It comes in a plastic compact complete with sponge type applicator and mirror.

I have been wearing this product a lot since I have purchased it. I think it adds a really delicate pretty finish to my cheeks, acts a perfect highlighter for the brow bone and a touch of shimmer in chosen spots around the face and neck!

Overall I am a fan of highlighter and this product is really good, a stable in my makeup bag for summer. This product does exactly as it promises, it adds instant illumination to the skin.

Product I Love Today– Day 4

Mint Green Phone Cover with Bow Detail

I am like a little jackdaw bird, I am attracted to all things shiny, sparkled and new! For this reason it comes as no surprise then that I absolutely love to change my phone cover. When I change my cover i also change the wall paper etc. As I say a new cover is like having a whole new phone! At the moment I have a white iPhone 4S so luckily there are many covers to choose from but today I am in love with this mint green bow detail cover!

This cover was bought on eBay where I find many of my covers. This one in particular is one of my favourites. It is hard casing which means it protects the phone handset really well ( I can be very clumsy)
It is mint hard plastic with a different sized pears attached. It is like the pearls are melted into the plastic as they don't budge! In the top left corner is a pear embellished bow! It is really pretty, ties in with the pastel trends and lets face it a little bit different!
I bought this cover on eBay so if you would like to check them out click here

Hope u like this post!

Product I Love Today– Day

The Wide Iron By Cloud Nine

I have the type of hair that does need styling (even if only a small amount) practically every time it is washed. I just have a natural kink that needs taming !! I have traditionally been a GHD user but due to a a seriously disappointing experience when I repurchased a new model I took the advise of my hair stylist and purchased a cloud nine wide iron. I am so glad to tell you that from the very first time I used it I loved it!

The wide super smooth plates and curved body allow you to straighten, wave or curl more hair, faster.

It has an excellent variety of heat settings meaning you can control the level of heat applied to your hair. You can also decide on the heat temperature most suitable to achieve your intended style. For example Approx 100-125 pdegrees for s straightened fine hair or lose waves or 150-200 degrees for thick/medium curls or barrelled waves. You do not need to go over the hair a number of times or repeat straightening this product completes its task swiftly and effectively! It does not drag the hair while straighening or when using to create waves etc.

One thing I really liked about this product (in addition to its effectiveness) is the actual design. It is handheld, non slip and very easy to manoeuvre and manage. It comes with a protective cap you just pop over the plates. This protects against burning and also protects your plates from damage or scratches. It also comes with a black felt finish long pouch with a drawstring. This has a dual purpose as in you can use it as a carry  bag for your cloud nine or as a heat protective mat when flat.

Over all I could not be happier with this product. It does exactly what I want it to do while at the same time giving me control over the levels of heat I apply to my hair. Priced at €125 approx it is, for me, well worth the price tag. It is no surprise at all that this product has won the best straightner award for 2013.
I love this product !! For more information click here

Product I Love Today – Day 2

SeeByChloe Eau De Parfum

A few weeks back I finished a bottle of one of my favourite perfumes in Dior Addict 2 so I went in search of a perfume that satisfied my longing for a spring summer scent that was light and fresh. Introducing my new addition to my perfume collection SeeByChloe!
I fell in love with this perfume the moment I smelt it. This perfume is fresh and light, it has a distinct scent of apple blossom, flowers and a little jasmine. It is a young girly perfume that just leaves a little whiff of summer in every spray.
I also really like the bottle – it really reminds me of a little bird cage. It is simple, light weight and perfect for your handbag.
I am really enjoying using this perfume, it defiantly has mood lifting qualities or it just evokes images of summer days when I wear it. Why not go have a little sniff and try it out!

What is your favourite spring scent at the minute?

At his point I just want to add all products I mention in my post I have bought and paid for myself. I always give an honest truthful opinion.

Product I Love Today – Day 1

  • TOPSHOP Lipstick in Tease

Oh what a pretty lippy! This is the ultimate Barbie pink shade of lipstick. Never really a user of TOPSHOP make up I has been seriously impressed with this lippy.

This lipstick is a matt finish lipstick and is moisturising for the lips. I really like the matt finish. It is matt but in not drying and the shade of pink gives a bright look to the lips. It is also really long wearing which means that I don’t need to keep reapplying.

The shade of pink is really bright but not cheap and tacky looking. The more you apply the richer the pink shade you can achieve. It is a really nice just worn alone but also really pretty to add a clear or very pale gloss to add a shine.

So many people have complimented this lippy when I have worn it. I can honestly say this lipstick will be a definite in my makeup bag for the spring/summer months to come.

Have you recently been using a lipstick you love? Do tell me about it...... I absolutely love to hear about new finds. Please leave a comment below telling me.

Happy Days and Shopping Spree's

Happy Days and Shopping Spree's

Today was a good day! Finally the sun showed its bright little face, if even only for a little while and was in constant conflict with the dreadful clouds trying their best to rain on my parade! It was decided a little day out was in order so popped in the car and off to Dublin we went.

First stop was a stroll along the pier in Howth (east coast); despite the rain bluster of spring breeze it was so nice. We shared fish chowder and prawns – what else can you so at the coast only have some fabulous fish! We even got a little lost in the whole romance of things and had a little trip on a horse drawn carriage. Simply put I loved it! Good company (I like to think my boyfriend is rather dishy (“,)), a nice relaxing day, tasty nibbles and the best bit to come.........a little shopping!

We decided to pop into Brown Thomas Department Store in the heart of the city on the way home. This is a Mecca for me. It is a shop of luxury, the home of many designer brands, goodies and delights. All you have to do is stand aside and let the door man open the gold rimmed doors (YES there is a door man) to be greeted with an aroma of fine perfumes, lotions, leather and just fabulousness! Any way in short I had many moments of weakness and treated myself to few products! I probably or defiantly went a little over budget but hey what is a girl to do!

So my treats included

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Fiji – I mentioned in previous posts how much of a fan I am of this foundation. I have been using one shade lighter than this. Seeing as the season has changed and we live in hope of sunny days this shade will be perfect if I acquire a tan is it from the sun or a bottle!

NARS Highlighter in Copacabana – I am loving the highlighted or illuminated look and I have read so many great reviews of this little stick of magic! It had to be mine!

MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter in Bright Forecast – I have been in search of a concealer/highlighter for under the eye and again positive reviews lead me here.

Mac Eye Shadow in Quart – This purchase was in response to a separate purchase a few weeks ago where I purchased Mac Eye Shadow in Sketch. I wanted a smoky eye look that was not browns or black/greys and I just loved Sketch. It belongs to the velvet collection and it is a burgundy with a delicate red shimmer. I wanted a lighter shade to blend for a day to night wear. For this reason I choose Quart. Quart is a soft muted matt brown shade. I also love to add Rose Pigment to Sketch so am sure this will be a fabulous trio!

Molton Brown Shower Gel in Patchouli and Saffron – Smells so good, fresh, summery and like all Molton Brown products will leave skin so soft.

I cannot wait to start using these little treats. I realise once again I went a little over budget so I am imposing a cosmetic’s spending ban on myself!! I shall start with 1 month. So from tonight I vow to not purchase any cosmetics or make up! Oh difficult I know – whish me luck!

Hope you had a lovely week end and thanks for reading this post. Here is to next weekend already, may it bring lots of fun.

XOXO

What is in my make up bag

What's in my make up bag!

I always like to keep a makeup bag at the ready with a few of, what I call essential items. These essential items are the makeup products that I use regularly, almost every day. All of these items I find to be excellent. They last all day, are gentle and do not cause dryness or breakouts. So let us delve in!!

My makeup bag is by Ted Baker. I received this bag as a gift from my sister and I simply adore it. The material it is synthetic, almost with a plastic finish and is satin lined with a zip to close. It is a very pale pink in colour with a large grey bow and rose gold detail and the Ted Baker signature detail on the front. It is big enough to hold all I need yet still the perfect size to fit in my bag.
Now to have a look inside:

Foundation -Nars Sheer Glow
Foundation in the shade Deauville (light4)
After a very long and often disappointing search for the perfect foundation which could be worn day to night, provided medium coverage I could build upon, provided a good shade match to my skin tone and did not cause breakouts or dry my skin I found this foundation. In short I love it! It fulfils all my present foundation needs and I am really enjoying using. A nice little result of using it also is that a number of people have commented on how nice it looks which is always a nice experience. I can't see myself changing foundations anytime soon.

Concealer - 1) Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection in shade Light 2.
A cheap and effective concealer that is quick to use, provides excellent coverage and is a great universal shade.

2) Undercover Pot Camouflage in Shade 3
This is a great little addition to a makeup bag. It contains two shades of concealer which is perfect for day and night looks. It also contains a little pot of finishing powder which sets your makeup really well.

Highlighter - Touché Éclat by YSL
I love this product as it really does add’s to a radiant under eye look. A little worked in to the under eye area lifts the face.

Bronzer - NARS Laguna Bronzer
A bronzer with the perfect shade for me. Day wear needs just a swipe and for night time or more tanned days this can built upon. Perfect for contouring also.

Blusher- MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty
I love this blush. It is a perfect pink shade with a touch of coral and a little gold sparkle. It blends really well and can be built upon for more intense shades. Great for spring/summer.

Eye shadow - MAC Pallet containing
*Omega
*Embark
*Espresso
* Wedge
I love this pallet- I put the colours together to have a nude range of colours which were matt, could be used as a day look or could be built upon for a darker night look. I also love this pallet as it contains perfect shades for eyebrows meaning it has many uses.

Eyebrows - Mac Deep brunette Eyebrow pencil.
This is a really good product which provides excellent colour and has a little brush at the top to ensuring your eyebrows are tidy.
I also use MAC Brow Set for my eyebrows. It just gives the finished look.

Mascara - They're Real by Benefit.
This mascara gives the perfect wide eye look. It is jet black, provides lots of volume and has staying power. I love mascara so this is perfect for me.

Lips - Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Shade 01 Rose.
This product gives the lips a lovely swipe of colour. The rose shade is delicate and light. It conditions your lips leaving them really soft.

Finishing - Rimmel Stay Matt Powder. A light Translucent Powder that adds a nice touch to any makeup look. Removes shining and leaves a flawless complexion

These are the products that are in my make up bag. I use each of these products on most days. I tried to have a natural makeup look during the day and these products help me to achieve this.

I hope you enjoyed this post.
What must have products do you have in your makeup bag? I would love to hear do please leave a comment below.

Thanks for reading my post

Blushers I am liking at the minute

Blush or are you just happy to see me!
Blushers I am liking at the minute

Blusher should be every girl’s friend, it allows us to add a hint of colour, a glow of health and achieve an all round girly complexion. To find the perfect blush is a difficult task but like so many other products it is simply a case of trial and error until you finds the shade and texture you adore. I have tried and test many different blushers and have narrowed down a few to share with you.

MAC Dainty Mineralizse Blush

This is a coral based pink blush that seems to compliment so many skin tones (I have tried it on a few friends). It is a pink shade that is natural looking. It is pigmented and like mush of the mineralized range from the texture is soft and light and this results in the staying power of this blush being not so great. There are tiny flecks of multicoloured shimmer that adds to the attractiveness of the blush on the skin. It applies well to the skin, I don’t find it patchy and it blends really well. This shade is a permanent colour in this collection and rightly so it is a really great colour for the spring/summer.

NYX PB06 Peach

Like many NYX products the shade title is a little misleading. This blush is, in my opinion, by no means peach in the conventional fruit shade use of the word. Instead it is a delicate rich shade of pink. Its texture is that of a pressed powder but it is not flaky or powdery. It gives a natural glow. I find that I do need to reapply this product at least once during the day as it seems to fade but when it is first applied it is pigmented provides a good pop of colour for the cheeks. I find this product perfect for a natural nearly there makeup look. Again the shade is really fresh and bright meaning it is perfect for spring. Also I have to add the quality of NYX cosmetics I have used is very good and priced very modestly (Price: £5.50 / €6.49) therefore it is a brand I intend of trying more of!
NARS Orgasm Blusher

There is not a lot I can say about this blusher that has not been said before. It is truly a cult favourite. I find that it is highly pigmented, has staying power, is not cakey or flaky (always be careful how you apply! I like to use the term “dollied” if I am over doing the blusher!) This blusher is to be used for glam looks. I do not find it natural looking more of a blush to use for a serious pop of colour. It is also best used on tanned or bronzed skin as it does provide great colour coverage but can look too much on pale skin tones. It is a pink colour with a hint of peach and fabulous gold touch. A little goes a long way so it is defiantly worth the cost as it will remain in your makeup collection for ages.

MAC Prolong Wear Blush in Eternal Sun

This blush is a move away from the previous mentioned blushes which seemed to centre on pink tones. Instead this blush is more of a peach/bronzed rich colour. It is a really warm shade that compliments most skin tones. It is a deep rich colour that is highly pigmented therefore needs to be applied gently. It is light weight and glides onto the skin like a dream and one big bonus as the name implies is that it is long wearing and does not need to be reapplied during the day. On application it gives provides a really nice glow but can be built upon for more dramatic looks. This shade is a permanent shade in the collection.

Sleeks Blush by 3 in LACE (Crochet, Guipure and Chantilly)

On opening this blush I was a little taken aback by the intensity of the colours inside. They did not look like the blushes I had ordered but I was nicely surprised after my initial shock. They are rich and pigmented but they are also very pretty on the skin. My favourite has to be Guipure; it is a warm bronzed shade with gold shimmer through it. I find myself reaching for these blushers more and more and I have to say for the price they are a great buy.

Blusher really does add a little something special to the face and an overall makeup look so finding the right shade for you is of importance. Do you have a favourite shade at the moment? Please leave a comment and share your experiences with me I really love to hear your suggestions.

Hope you are having a lovely day where ever you are and thanks for taking the time to read my post.

XOXO
