Ancient Beauty – Ayurveda by Rituals Pamper Sample Pack Gift Sets

Ancient Beauty – Ayurveda by Rituals
Pamper Sample Pack Gift Sets
***********************************

Gifts sets and sampler packs are a great way to try out new products. I have always been attracted to gifts sets and thankfully so. I have fallen victim to purchasing many full size products only to discover I really did not like the product  meaning that not only have I spent money on products that I do not like and will never use. My new found appreciation for gifts sets and trial size grow by the day. I have decided to delicate Tuesdays to sharing my experiences of the various gift sets I have purchased recently. I will begin by sharing my experiences of the Ancient Beauty Gift Set by Rituals.
I simply adore Rituals bath and shower products so it was no surprise I happily purchased this set. This set offers all you need for a perfect little pamper session. Your skin is cleansed with shower gel, revitalized with a body scrub and moisturized with a super rich fabulous scented body cream. You also receive a cleansing shampoo. All the products in this set have a fabulous aroma. With ingredients such as rose oil, Indian rose and sweet almond oil each products not only smells amazing but also is really moisturizing on the skin. The gift set includes;

o   70 ml Brilliant Bliss

Brilliant Bliss is a nourishing shampoo for your hair. It helps to achieve a brilliant shine in your hair. As with all Rituals products the smell is simply beautiful. My hair was soft and shiny after use and actually felt really cleansed. One little piece of advice I would offer is to follow this shampoo with a rich conditioner, maybe your regular conditioner just keep your hair well conditioned and extra glossy.

o   70 ml Honey touch

This is a rich and nourishing body cream. I regularly use Rituals body cream and body lotions and they are some of my favourite body products. My skin is left soft, moisturised and smells really nice. It dried really fast and the softness lasts for ages after use.

o   50 ml Yogi Flow

This shower gel is such a great “shower experience”. It is spray gel shower gel that once again smells simply beautiful. It is rich and moisturising and adds a sense of luxury to your shower time.

o   40 gr Himalaya Wisdom

This is a cleansing body scrub. It has a really fine consistency that is gentle yet effective on the skin. It removes dead skin, revitalizes your skin and leaves it soft and cleansed and exfoliated which is perfect for preparing your skin for maybe applying tan.

As a long established fan of rituals products I really enjoyed using this gift set. Each product supplied is a treat and I highly recommend it. I have repurchased the shower gel, the body cream and the body scrubs in full size so that, in my opinion, is testimony in itself as to how much I enjoyed using these products.

Samples.......Every-One Loves Em!

Samples.......Every-One Loves Em!

As the title suggests am sure every-one loves samples. I am a massive fan of the whole “try before you buy” concept. I have been lucky enough to collect a few samples over the last few months so I decided to share my experiences with you. Without delay let’s get started...........

¬  Perfect Hands Intense Moisture by This Works  (30ml)

A fan of rich hand creams I was eager to try this and thankfully was not disappointed. A creamy rich lotion that is gentle on the hands, not oily or greasy and smells really nice – that is how I would describe this hand cream. With rose, mimosa and musk mallow this combination of ingredients combine to form a moisturising creams that leaves the skin soft and the your hands in good condition. I like it!

¬  Brightening Hand Cream by L’Occitane (15ml)

The second of my sample hand creams, this lotion is lighter in consistency in comparison to the lotion mentioned above. It is practically odourless, white in colour and glides evenly onto the skin. It contains ingredients that brighten the skin and gives a slight glow. It is not oily or greasy (a characteristic which is so important or I end up dropping everything). My skin was soft and really smooth after use. I have tried lots of L’Occitane products but I have to say I really like this one and would buy a full size for my hand bag.

¬  Eight Hour Cream by Elizabeth Arden  (7ml)

Often described as the magic cream I was again eager to try this product. My first impression was the smell. It is rather strong but you can get by this. The consistency is very rich; it is almost like a thick oil liquid/lotion. I used it to sooth my skin after getting my eye brows waxed. It worked perfectly. I have used it on chapped lips – it worked really well. I also used it on a break out (a rather nasty one let me add) and yes it worked well. Over all my experience has been positive and I could do with a little tube of this lotion tucked away for emergencies.

¬  Nip and FAB Mango Smoothie  - Dry Skin Fix Body Butter  (50 ml)

Oh the smell! It is just amazing – if it was a desert it would be my favourite. This product was one that I simply did not want to finish. Once again it is a rich lotion but this time it is for the body. It glides on to the skin, soaks in immediately, leaves the skin really moisturised and smelling great. What else could you ask for in a body lotion? I defiantly will be purchasing a full size of this product.  I am excited to see and smell the other varieties.

¬  Aroma Cleanse Exfoliating Cream by Declor

Always on the lookout for good skincare products I have tried a few products from Declor and found some great and some not so great! This Exfoliating Creams works by applying it all over the skin, letting it dry for a minute or two and then gently rubbing it off with a face cloth. It smells really nice like all of the products from Declor and it does seem gentle on the skin. The effectiveness was the one issue I was not so sure about. I like a gritty exfoliating product and this product was not like that. My skin was fresh and clean and somewhat exfoliated but I am not running out to purchase the full size product!

¬  Deep Sleep Pillow Spray by This works (5ml)

I have tried the shower gel and the balm products in this range and did like them so was super excited to try this spray. It smells so good! As a fan of lavender I found this spray to be fresh and relaxing. It does last a while on your pillow which is nice. Whether is aided me in a good night’s sleep this I am not fully sure of but I have enjoyed using it and have been sleeping a little better. I like it as a room spray and would consider purchasing the full size product.

¬  Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti Aging Cream by Estee Lauder (15ml)

I like to use a rich night cream as part of my skin care routine and this little gem is perfect. I cleansed, toned and used my serum before applying this cream. I really like it so much so I have actually bought a new full size of this product. It moisturises the skin leaving it soft, polished looking and after using it for a week or so I found my skin to be plumper. As for the anti-aging element well I do live in hope that is successful in doing its magic. Overall I found this cream to be gentle and effective so what more could you ask for in your skin care.

¬  Optimiser Style Reviver by Richard Ward (50ml)

Volume – glorious volume I simply love it! Spraying this product on your roots it is hoped that this volume is achieved and you can restyle your hair to your heart’s content. This is partially true from my experience. It does lift your hair from the roots but I found it left my hair a little sticky. (I have long hair and lots of it!) This product is great for restyling your hair and creating an up style but maybe not so good for your hair if you plan on leaving it flowing freely. I prefer a lighter formula.

¬  Yogi Flow Indian Rose and Sweet Almond Oil Foaming Shower Gel Sensations  by Rituals (50 ml)

My very favourite bath time/shower time products come from Rituals. I love every product I have tried and simply cannot get enough of them this little shower gel sensations smells amazing, leaves the skin soft and cleansed and is so handy as a foaming spray as it gives you the perfect  amount every time. One thing I love about this range of products is that your shower or bathroom is left smelling amazing for ages after you use it. I have purchased this product in a full size and I am sure I will be repurchasing it again and again – I think it’s pretty clear how much I ADORE all Rituals products.

¬  Collagen and Aloe Vera Hydro Mask by Etre Belle (1 mask)

This is a material mask which is steeped in product which you apply directly onto the skin, sit back, relax and let it do its magic. The mask does contain a lot of product and it is super easy to apply. I used it while I was having a bath as I hoped the steam would open my pores and the magic mask would be effective. The mask itself was nice! It did hydrate my skin and left my skin soft. I am not a fan of the material mask so I think I prefer using my liquid masks but this was different and easy to use.

¬  Deep Repair Masque by Macadamia (30ml)

I honestly expected this mask to be so different then what it was. I expected it to very rich and to leave my hair oily and heavy but from my experience the exact opposite happened! I love this hair mask and have repurchased it and the matching shampoo. My hair was soft, silky and really conditioned. It added bounce and my hair was so healthy looking and feeling. I really enjoyed using it and highly recommend this hair product.

¬  Pro Collagen Marine Cream by Elemis (15ml)

This cream is a fantastic day cream. It is rich, moisturising and extremely gentle on your skin. It is perfect for a make-up base or to give your skin a little glow if you prefer the natural look. It has powerful anti aging properties like algae and ginkgo balboa rose. It is fragrance free and gentle on the skin. I used it in the mornings and my skin felt so good. The only issue I have with this product is the lack of SPF.

I REALLY enjoy using sample products as they really do allow you to try before you buy. I find that if you ask the kind assistant at many of the various cosmetic counters in department s stores, drug stores/chemists or spas for sample products they often oblige and treat you to one or two. At first I felt awkward doing this but then I realised I was purchasing products on a fairly regular basis so why not ask for a few freebies! After all if you like it there will be no stopping you purchasing the full size product.
Have you tried any samples of products you loved and had to purchase? Please do leave a comment sharing your experiences.
Have a lovely weekend and hope the sun is shining where ever you are.

XOXO

April Favourites

April Favourite Time

This month has been filled with the hope a seasons changing, a day or two of sun and a lot of pampering sessions. For this reason my favourites are a mixture of body care products, skin care and beauty. The months always fly by so fast but each month I like to try at least one new product so that is always fun! Without further ado I will proceed with the products I have been really enjoying using this month. I hope you enjoy this post and find one or two products you would like to try yourself!!

1.  Rituals Body Cream – Magic Touch Organic Cherry and Rice Milk.

I first received a sample of this body cream in a recent Glossy Box. I loved it so much I spent a long time looking for a full size. It is a body cream unlike most I have tried. It is super rich, whipped and velvety and really creamy. This product is so easy to apply; even though it is super rich it glides over the skin. It has such a luxurious feel even to touch and leaves the skin feeling extremely soft. The skin seems to drink this body cream in meaning that it has excellent moistening qualities also. It contains anti oxidants, vitamin E and other ingredients that work to strengthen your skin. Another important fact is that it smells absolutely amazing. I am so glad I spent so long looking for this a full size of this product as it is my favourite body lotion/cream – the best I have used! Defiantly recommend any one who enjoys body products to try these products.

2.  Michael Todd Toner – Blue Green Algae Toner.

I had been experiencing an increasing number of break-outs; I had tried and tested quite a few different skin care products in an attempt to combat this problem. In my pursuit of a solution I watched and read a few reviews of this product and simply had to try it myself and I am so glad I did! This toner is excellent. This toner is anti-bacterial which first off can’t but help to clear up problem skin, oily patches and similar skin problems. It even smells so cleansing with hints of lavender and Birchwood. It is packed with vitamins, minerals and amino acids and has aloe Vera to sooth the skin and leaves it refreshed. Honestly I cannot say enough good things about this toner; my skin has cleared up completely since I started using it. I have repurchases it twice and I will continue to use it. I have recently ordered a few more items from the Michael Todd range and I look forward to their arrival as I hope they will be as good as this toner.

3.  Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle Treatment.

I have been using this product for well over two years now and I find it amazing. I use it for a few purposes. First off I use it to keep my nails strengthened, to help them grow strong and keep them in good condition. I also use this product as a top coat and it is excellent. So I apply this product as a base coat for the strengthening purposes, then apply my colour and to finish it off I apply it as a top coat. My nails do not chip, they last for 4 to 5 days (if I don’t get tired of the colour and want a new polish). It is rich in formula so you only need one thin coat meaning the product really lasts. It also gives the nail a really shinny finish. This product is a great investment for any gal who loves nail care.
4.  Kerastase - Elixir Ultime for Colour Treated Hair

This is another product I have been using for months - since Christmas to be exact! Every time I use this product (which is every time I was my hair) I am reminded why I love it so much. It smells amazing; it leaves your hair so super soft and packs your hair with lots of vitamins and active ingredients that protects colour in colour treated hair. It adds shine and radiance. It has so many uses. It can be used as a pre cleanse before washing, it can be applied to shampooed hair to add shine and fabulous fragrance and after shampooing and blow drying to smooth and give extra shine. It adds a little nourishment to your hair every time you use it.  I only use one or two pumps so a little goes a long way with this product. It is a great hair product that I will again continue to use.
5.    Mac Eyeshadow in Sketch and Mac Pigment in Rose
INFO (rose pigment)
INFO(sketch)

Traditionally I have always been swayed towards a brown eye shadow look or a smoky look. Seeing as the season is changing I wanted to change up my look a little so with this in mind I went on the hunt for a new shade. The result is sketch!  It belongs to the velvet collection and it is a burgundy with a delicate red shimmer. I wanted a lighter shade to blend for a day to night wear. It is fabulous! I love to add a touch of the rose pigment, blend and instantly the result is a pink/burgundy smoky eye for night ware and the rose pigment is fabulous for day wear especially if blended with a light pale pink. The rose pigment has a delicate shimmer. I am really enjoying experimenting with this these shadows.

DISAPOINTING PRODUCTS

¬  Normaderm Active Concentrate

This product is used as a spot treatment. It is said to reduce sudden local breakouts and soothe discomforts. Of all the products I purchased this is my least favourite and if I am being really honest I do not find it very effective. You apply a small amount on to the affected area. I found the consistency of the product made it hard to use. It sits on the skin and does not seem to melt or soak in at all. It is also blue in colour so as you can imagine its messy when it falls off your face and onto your clothes! So not one for me!

Hope you found one or two products you would like to try and if you have any fav's you would like to share just leave a comment below. Thanks for reading my post.

Have a lovely weekend.

March Favourites

Like last few months March seems to have flown by. I loved the change of season this month even if the weather seems to be forgetting how to complete the whole change element this month. Spring/Summer 2013 trends are full of corals, nudes and light delicate shades combined with natural beauty. I just love browsing all new products and trying one or two. So this month my favourites have been some oldies and some newbie’s which I am now going to share with you.

1.     Rituals Shower Foam in Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom

£ 7.00 or €10 200ml

This shower foam is from the sensations collection. I was first introduced to the whole Rituals brand of products after receiving a trial size body lotion in a recent Glossy Box and now I am addicted. I have gone on to purchase a number of different products (all which I will review and share my experiences as I use them). This shower foam is really great value for money as it the foam pump allocates just enough of the luxurious foam and contact with water turns it in soft relaxing foam. The rice milk is said to leave the skin really soft while the cherry blossom acts as a cleanser.  My skin is definitely enjoying the experience and I will be repurchasing this product.

2. .    Barry M Gel Like High Shine Polish In Lychee

£3.99 or €4.99

I have always been a massive fan of nude nail polish so you can imagine my excitement when the turn of the seasons brought with it an influx of nude polishes. I have a few favourites but the forerunner in my favourite’s league is definitely Lychee by Barry M. The Hi Shine Gel range is very impressive. It aims to give a gel like finish and is long wearing and both of these are true. It dries really fast and has a really great shine. This shade is perfect for my skin tone. It is a nude shade that is light and fresh and compliments tanned skin or tan free skin (I have tried both). This polish is also a perfect base for nail art or a simple nail jewel or two. I have a few different shades from this collection and I like them all.  My must have nail polish for the coming months.

3. Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

£7.99 or €11.50

I am certainly not the first to love Revlon’s Lip Butter and am sure the fan base for this product will continue to grow.  I have tried a few of shades but at the moment I love Peach Parfait. Lip butter’s are exactly as described they are soft buttery colour burst for the lips. They condition and colour and leave a hint of shine and glamour all at the same time. This shade, peach parfait, is a natural almost nude colour with peach tones and gold flecks. This shade adds a glow to your lips and for me is the perfect summer shade. The only problem I have like so many others is that it does not last a very long time and needs reapplying.

4.    They’re Real Mascara by Benefit

£18.50 or €23

I absolutely love mascara and I absolutely love this mascara. It is dark, long lasting and gives what only can be described as amazing eyelashes. The wand is plastic which I know some people do not like but I have to say it works wonders. It has a tiny application spikes on the top which allows you to apply the mascara to even the shortest of eyelashes. It is a little expensive as mascara’s go but in my opinion it is defiantly worth the spends. I have tried a lot of mascara’s and I am sure I will continue to try new products but I feel at the moment this product will be hard beaten.

5.    Cloud Nine The Wide Iron

£109.95 or €120 (with discount for bringing in an old electrical appliance)

Recently I have had to purchase a new hair iron. I originally had a GHD which had lasted me well over 5 years and I was really happy with it. Due to use, age and wear and tear my iron needed replacing. As I was really happy with my GHD I simply just repurchased. However my experience was less then satisfying. I found the new hair iron simply did not straighten my hair. I would straighten it and within a couple of hours my hair was mess. Long story short I returned my item. On research I decided on a Cloud Nine Wide Irons. End result I absolutely love it. This iron works perfectly. It straightens my hair, ads shine, can be used to add a kink or wave to my hair. The wide iron plates mean you only have to run the iron once or twice through the hair to achieve the desired look (I have long bouncy hair). It has a number of different tempeture settings, comes with a heat mat and has a protective cap. I am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend highly. I am now saving to treat myself to another Cloud Nice Product – The Wand.

March Products That Disappointed Me !!!

TIGI S-Factor True Lasting Colour Shampoo and Conditioner

£20 or €25 for Shampoo and Conditioner 200ml set

I was recommended to use these products and had to try them out. Unfortunately I was disappointed! The products are rich and this may have been part of the problem for me as the products were a little too rich. The result was my hair was left a little weighed down. This meant that my hair had to be washed more often. I also found that the shape of the bottles meant that it was so difficult to squeeze the product out and either too much came out too fast or it took an age to get it out. Over all I did not like these products.

There you have it my fav's for March.
